The Philani Child Health and Nutrition Project is a community-based NGO committed to the protection of the rights of every child to proper nutrition and healthcare in communities where malnourished children and destitute mothers are most vulnerable.
Philani Child Health and Nutrition Project has expanded its home-based maternal and child health programmes to the villages and surrounds of the Zithulele Hospital in OR Tambo District in the Eastern Cape. Zithulele is a vibrant health centre which recruits a growing number of committed health professionals with the goal of creating a centre of excellence to serve the population of the OR Tambo District.
Philani Child Health and Nutrition Project seeks to appoint a Project Manager, based in Eastern Cape, to head the Zithulele Mentor Mothers Project.
Responsibilities:
* Manage, support and supervise, together with two experienced assistants, 27 mentor mothers who deliver home based maternal and child health services in the rural surroundings of Zithulele hospital;
* Build capacity in the health care team through continuous skills development training and in-service training;
* Develop and maintain links with community leaders, clinics and Zithulele hospital in the process of developing an integrated primary health care model.
